OpenText Digital Asset Management is the current name of OpenText Media Management (OTMM), the enterprise DAM that OpenText built on the Artesia platform it bought in 2004 S18. It targets large organizations with very big rich-media libraries, video and 3D needs, strict governance and SAP or Adobe ecosystems, and it can run on-premises, in a public cloud, in the OpenText private cloud or as a managed service S15 S16. The developer portal still calls it "Media Management CE" and the REST API lives under /otmmapi/v6 S1 S3. Since late 2024 OpenText has also sold a separate product, OpenText Core Digital Asset Management (Core DAM): a multi-tenant SaaS DAM aimed at marketing teams, with its own small API S29 S11. This page mainly covers OTMM; Core DAM appears only where it matters.

Positioning

  • OpenText sells it as an enterprise DAM that scales to "billions" of files, thousands of users and hundreds of channels. It can also serve as a headless or hybrid back end, and it is pitched beyond marketing: field service, security video, production files and 3D S16.
  • Deployment flexibility is a core argument. OpenText still sells perpetual and term licences, which it says some other DAM vendors have dropped, alongside subscription and managed cloud S16. Forrester's Q1 2026 Wave makes the same point, calling it "deployment-agnostic" according to OpenText's summary S41 Unverified (vendor summary; the report is paywalled).
  • Strengths cited by analysts. IDC (2024) points to complex and regulated use cases, very large libraries, strong search, extensive APIs and a large partner ecosystem. Its stated weaknesses: a poor fit for small teams or buyers who want multi-tenant SaaS, a hard-to-use admin console, thin documentation, and a PaaS model that does not scale elastically S24.
  • Ecosystem fit. The product sheet calls it the "preferred DAM" for SAP Commerce, Business and Marketing, and lists Adobe Creative Cloud, AEM, Salesforce, Salsify and Microsoft 365 connectors S16. IDC names Adobe Creative Cloud, SAP Commerce, OpenText Experience Cloud, Salsify and Brightcove as the most-used integrations S24.
  • Two-product strategy. Core DAM (announced December 2024) covers marketing and communications teams that want a quick-to-deploy multi-tenant SaaS DAM. It runs on the OpenText Cloud platform and Core Content, with a 30-day free trial S29 S30 S31 S9.
  • Competitors named alongside it in 2026 Leader coverage: Aprimo, Bynder, Orange Logic, Adobe Experience Manager Assets S23.

Pricing & licensing

  • No public price list; the product page sends buyers to sales S15.
  • Licensing models S16:
    • an all-inclusive annual subscription covering software, cloud hosting, support and updates, with "flexible user pricing", or
    • a perpetual/term licence deployed on-premises or in any cloud.
  • The one public price point: on the UK government G-Cloud 14 framework, "OpenText Media Management Digital Asset Management for G-Cloud" is listed at GBP 240 per user per year. That listing is a private/hybrid cloud service with 99.5% guaranteed application availability S33.
  • Connector example: the Salesforce Marketing Cloud connector is listed on AppExchange at USD 50,000 per Marketing Cloud instance per year. Its listed release date is 2019-10-18 S34 Unverified (old listing; current price not confirmed).
  • Core DAM: 30-day free trial with no credit card, and trial data is stored in North America S30. The trial plan includes 100 GB of storage, 1 GB of CDN egress, 1,000 semantic searches, 50 visual-similarity searches, 25 minutes of video analysis and 20 AI-generated images S12. Paid Core DAM pricing: Not public.

Security & compliance

  • Certifications. The OpenText private cloud map (December 2023) lists Media Management on the OpenText Cloud Platform with ISO 27001:2013, ISO 27017:2015, SOC 1 Type II and SOC 2 Type II (USA, UK, Netherlands). The Google Cloud option lists no certifications for Media Management S32. The G-Cloud 14 listing confirms ISO/IEC 27001 (certificate dated 2023-06-07) and no Cyber Essentials S33. A DAM-specific trust page: Unknown.
  • Identity. User authentication goes through OpenText Directory Services (OTDS). OTDS supports SSO through LDAP, Active Directory, ADFS, Sun OpenDS, OAuth2 and SAML 2.0 S16. The G-Cloud listing also mentions identity federation, 2FA and dedicated VPN links S33.
  • Access control. The product sheet describes three security layers: user authentication, control of client functions and metadata, and asset security S16. Assets carry security policies, and users hold feature permissions S1.
  • Audit. Asset activity history and event details are available in the product and through the API S1. Audit retention is user-defined S33.
  • Accessibility. Tested against WCAG 2.0, with WCAG 2.1 work in progress (G-Cloud statement) S33.
  • Data residency. Customers choose the hosting location (see Key facts). Core DAM lets them choose the region per API host S8.
