Sources and their limits: the product documentation (administration, user and integration guides, release notes) is on OpenText My Support, which requires a login. This page therefore relies on the public product overview (October 2024), the product pages, the public API specification and analyst excerpts. When the API spec shows a capability, it is marked . A short section on Core DAM (the separate SaaS product) closes the page.

AI capabilities

  • Image analysis via a choice of engine: Microsoft Azure Computer Vision, Amazon Rekognition, Google Vision AI or OpenText Knowledge Discovery (IDOL) Visual Analytics. It auto-tags number of people, faces, age, gender, descriptions, objects and colours, and runs OCR on captions S16.
  • Video insights. Time-coded speech-to-text with speaker identification, on-screen OCR, brand and label detection, and celebrity recognition (vendor says a database of one million people). The API exposes transcripts, SRT export, keyframes and person edits S1 S16.
  • Generative AI (OpenText Experience Aviator). Text-to-image generation inside the creative-request workflow, used to brief designers. It is powered by Google Vertex AI Imagen and needs a Google Vertex Imagen account S16.
  • Smart compose / smart crop. Automatic intelligent cropping in Adaptive Media Delivery S16 S15.
  • IDC view (2024). AI features were "limited" and needed more development. IDC listed image and video analytics, facial detection, smart crop, colour and object detection, and video sentiment S24.
  • AI governance and opt-out. Engines are customer-configured connectors, but a published AI data-use policy for DAM is Unknown.

Organization

  • Folders (with folder types and multiple parents), collections (private, shared, promoted to user groups, rated, published as microsites from templates) and saved searches S1.
  • Digital Hub. Public or secure microsites that publish curated asset collections to occasional and external users S16.
