Highlights
Aprimo moved governance outside the DAM with Content Portfolio Management, which discovers and checks content where it already lives. Adobe shipped AEM Cloud Service 2026.9.0, adding AI Search and Smart Collections to Content Hub and a new Dynamic Media video viewer. On the same platform, the 2026-09-28 deadline for removing deprecated Java APIs has now passed. MCP keeps spreading: Canto launched a Product Hub MCP, and Bynder now documents its MCP server.
Aprimo launches Content Portfolio Management (CPM) to govern content outside the DAM
Aprimo announced Content Portfolio Management, which it says is generally available. "Mesh" discovery scans websites, file storage, partner portals and social accounts without migrating anything, then fingerprints the assets and deduplicates them against the DAM. An "Open Agent Framework" runs Librarian (metadata enrichment), Critic (quality) and Compliance (brand/legal) agents on that content. A portfolio risk dashboard ranks the violations by region, brand, asset type and severity.
Why it mattersGovernance and AI agents now reach content that was never ingested into the DAM. Integrators should check how Mesh connects to non-DAM repositories, because no public API documentation for CPM was found yet.
AEM as a Cloud Service 2026.9.0: AI Search, Smart Collections and a new Dynamic Media video viewer
Release 2026.9.0 adds intent-based, multilingual AI Search to Content Hub, along with Smart Collections that store search criteria and add matching assets automatically, and admin-defined custom sort fields. Dynamic Media gets a customizable, accessible video viewer with analytics. It also adds multi-caption and multi-audio tracks, AI-generated captions, and attribute-based access control on delivery based on metadata rules. Beta or early-access items include Brand Aware Metadata (AI metadata generated on upload), a multi-portal Content Hub, an Assets Sourcing Portal, and video engagement and operations reports. The next release, 2026.10.0, is planned for 2026-10-29.
Why it mattersSmart Collections and attribute-based delivery rules change how Content Hub portals and protected Dynamic Media URLs are configured, so integrations that rely on static collections or open delivery should be reviewed.
Adobe's deadline for removing deprecated Java APIs from AEM Cloud Service customer code was 2026-09-28. The affected APIs include Sling Commons Auth, Guava (com.google.common), log4j 1.x, Logback, Jetty and MongoDB packages. According to Adobe, environments that still use them stop receiving critical release updates, and Cloud Manager Code Quality checks block those deployments. Separately, Adobe plans to move all environments to Java 25 and decommission the Java 21 runtime in June 2027.
Why it mattersCustom AEM Assets code such as workflows, servlets and connectors must be free of these packages, or the environment falls off the update train.
Canto adds AI Bulk Update Assistant, Product Hub MCP and AI Portals
Canto announced three capabilities. The AI Bulk Update Assistant handles catalog and asset changes in bulk. Product Hub MCP gives AI assistants live access to approved product data and assets. AI Portals offer AI-assisted portal configuration, a drag-and-drop editor and asset curation. The same release cites 35 G2 Fall 2026 badges and the MarTech Breakthrough "DAM Platform of the Year" award.
Why it mattersCanto's PIM (Product Hub) is now reachable through MCP, a new integration surface alongside its REST API.
Orange Logic, Lionsgate and Comcast Technology Solutions expand video intelligence
Lionsgate uses Comcast Technology Solutions' frame-level video analysis, embedded in Orange Logic, across more than 2,000 hours of video. Orange Logic links those insights to title, character and talent data. Teams can then search the library in natural language by character, talent or on-screen appearance, and the resulting metadata is stored on the asset record.
Why it mattersThis is a reference case for third-party video AI from the Orange Logic Marketplace (CTS VideoAI) writing enriched metadata back into the DAM at scale.
The 2026-09-18 changelog lists ten fixes, including import error handling, a package import that failed at the schema-validation step, and state flow configuration issues. The 2026-09-24 entry fixes an import/export bug by reverting a recent optimization that skipped unchanged items during import.
Why it mattersTeams that promote Content Hub packages between environments (CLI/CI pipelines) should retest imports, since import behaviour changed twice in one week.
Bynder September update: MCP server documented, AI agents extended, new integrations
The Bynder API changelog for September 2026 adds the Bynder MCP server to the developer documentation. It also clarifies that when a metaproperty's name and label differ, name becomes the externalReference. The September product newsletter says Brand Compliance Agents now evaluate PDFs and documents, including font properties and metadata. Enrichment Agents keep a version history of their prompts, and Transformation Agents gain metaproperty inheritance and a usage dashboard. It also lists a bulk version updater and new integrations (Bynder MCP, Vista Social, Fluiid4, FADEL, Veeva Vault, Unsplash).
Why it mattersThe MCP server is now part of the official dev docs, and the externalReference clarification affects scripts that create metaproperties.
